This antique Persian Sarouk rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its softly faded palette and elegant traditional drawing. Its open ivory field is layered with a delicate medallion-and-corner composition, refined floral detailing, and a beautifully timeworn border accented by pale blue and tan tones that give it a luminous decorative presence. A sophisticated hand-knotted accent for a bedroom, living room, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, beige, tan, sky blue, taupe, and camel, with a ivory field.
Sarouk is a village in western Iran north of Arak, famed for its 1920’s-1930’s floral rugs. They have both medallions and all over designs and are woven with asymmetric knotting on a cotton foundation. They often have a rich burgundy color as well as rose and rust grounds.
