Dimensions: 6'8" x 9'8" (203 cm x 295 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Shiraz rug, handmade in Southwest Persia circa 1930, is a one-of-a-kind tribal carpet distinguished by its bold stepped medallion, corner spandrels, and finely drawn geometric motifs. Its hand-knotted construction and softly aged palette of ivory, camel, and brown give the piece a refined, timeworn character while preserving the graphic strength and decorative rhythm prized in Persian village weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining room, or office.
Faded warm tones of ivory, camel, brown, taupe, and charcoal, with a ivory field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
