Antique Malayer Runner Rug (3' x 12')
Dimensions: 3'0" x 12'1" (91 cm x 368 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Malayer runner, hand-knotted in Persia circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a striking column of geometric medallions set against a richly abrashed red field. Its narrow format, angular tribal drawing, and finely detailed border give it strong decorative presence, while the aged palette of rust, ivory, indigo, and camel showcases the character collectors prize in early village weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Faded warm tones of rust, red, ivory, camel, indigo, navy, brown, and rose, with a red field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
