This antique Perpedil rug, circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Caucasian tribal weaving with a bold geometric composition and a dramatic dark field. Its hand-knotted design features ivory and sky-blue latch-hook forms, angular guard borders, and stepped medallion elements accented by rust, camel, and soft rose tones, giving the piece strong graphic presence and collector appeal. A striking accent for a living room, office, or hallway.
Muted cool tones of navy, ivory, camel, sky blue, rust, rose, taupe, and charcoal, with a navy field.
Perpedil (also Perepedil or Perepidil) rugs are woven in the Kuba district of the eastern Caucasus, named for a village in the region. They are among the most visually distinctive of all Caucasian rugs, featuring the striking "ram's horn" (or "chi") motif — large angular spiral forms — as a principal design element, often combined with stylized animals and geometric border compositions.
Their palette typically features bright red, deep blue, and ivory with bold color outlining. Antique Perpedil rugs are highly sought by collectors of Caucasian work for their dramatic visual impact and their relative rarity.
