This antique Caucasian runner, circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its bold tribal geometry and striking sky-blue field. Angular medallion forms, ivory-toned borders, and crisp red accents create a highly collectible composition with the graphic clarity and artisanal character prized in hand-knotted Caucasian rugs. An ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or office.
Faded warm tones of ivory, sky blue, rust, beige, camel, and crimson, with a sky blue field.
Caucasian rugs have a stronger palette with geometric designs. Longer piled rugs are woven in the highlands and the shorter piled finer rugs in the lowlands. The Caucasus is the area bordered by the Black Sea on the left and the Caspian Sea to the right. The Caucasus mountains border the region from the northwest diagonally to the southwest. Rugs are usually woven on an all wool foundation or with wool warps and cotton wefts, occasionally mixed.
