This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian runner with a beautifully aged all-over floral design and a softly timeworn palette. Its hand-knotted character is expressed through the nuanced border work, delicate vine-and-palmette motifs, and faded rose, sky blue, and earthy accents that give the piece exceptional decorative depth. An ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or bedroom.
Faded warm tones of rose, terra cotta, sky blue, ivory, olive, charcoal, taupe, and rust, with a rose field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
