This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a striking sky-blue field framed by earthy geometric borders. Its all-over tribal design features stepped diamond medallion forms, stylized floral and latch-hook motifs, and a beautifully time-softened palette that highlights the character of its hand-knotted wool pile. A distinctive accent piece well-suited for an entryway, office, or bedroom.
Faded cool tones of sky blue, taupe, brown, ivory, slate, and charcoal, with a blue field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
