Dimensions: 6'8" x 9'10" (203 cm x 300 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Heriz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian carpet distinguished by its graphic lattice of angular botanical and geometric motifs. The ivory field is enlivened with rust and charcoal drawing, while the bold border with sky blue diamond accents gives the composition strong architectural presence and collector appeal. Handcrafted with the crisp, tribal-inflected geometry prized in Heriz rugs, it is an ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, charcoal, rust, sky blue, and taupe, with a ivory field.
Located in north west Iran, Heriz is one of the most well known rug weaving centers. They are woven with geometric designs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical (Turkish / Ghiordes) knot. They usually come with a large central squarish medallion with pendants either ends.
