This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal carpet distinguished by its bold all-over lattice of geometric boteh and richly patterned border. The deep indigo field and rust-red motifs create a striking, time-softened palette that showcases hand-knotted craftsmanship and the graphic character collectors prize in South Persian weaving. Its layered tribal patterning and warm, saturated color story make it an ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining room, or office.

Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs.
