Dimensions: 5'0" x 7'6" (152 cm x 229 cm).
Circa: 1920.
Handmade and one-of-a-kind, this antique circa 1920 tribal rug showcases a finely drawn diamond lattice with repeating geometric motifs in a softly faded ivory and camel palette. Its low contrast patterning, framed border, and nuanced aged surface give it the quiet sophistication collectors seek in early 20th century hand-knotted rugs. An ideal accent for a bedroom, living room, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, camel, taupe, beige, and sand, with a ivory field.
Belouch (also Baluch or Balochi) rugs are woven by the Baluch tribal confederacy spanning eastern Iran, western Afghanistan, and parts of Pakistan. Among the most immediate and expressive of all tribal rugs, they are made on horizontal ground looms using a wool foundation and a distinctive palette dominated by deep reds, rich browns, dark navy, and ivory — colors drawn from the natural dyes of the desert plateau.
Designs include prayer formats, repeating geometric field patterns, and stylized tree-of-life compositions, often finished with elaborate flatwoven kilim ends. Their rustic, heartfelt quality and superb natural dyes make them perennially popular with collectors and designers seeking authentic tribal character.
