This antique Hamadan runner, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian rug with a beautifully elongated tribal design and softly aged palette. The ivory field is animated by a sequence of geometric medallions, angular corner spandrels, and finely drawn motifs in sky blue, blush, and pale taupe, showcasing the character and artistry collectors prize in hand-knotted village weaving. Its refined narrow format makes it an ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, sky blue, blush, taupe, and pale pink, with a ivory field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
