This antique circa 1930 Joshegan rug is a hand-knotted Persian treasure, distinguished by a softly toned ivory field, a bold geometric diamond medallion, and finely drawn floral and tribal-inspired motifs. Its intricate wool pile design layers powder blue, taupe, charcoal, and warm beige across a series of detailed guard borders, creating exceptional visual depth and collector appeal. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or bedroom.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, powder blue, charcoal, beige, brown, slate, and cream, with a ivory field.
Joshaghan (also Joshegan) is a village in Isfahan province, central Iran, credited with originating the famous "Joshaghan" all-over repeat pattern — a bold diamond lattice enclosing stylized flowers — which became one of the most widely imitated designs in Persian carpet weaving. The pattern is believed to date to at least the seventeenth century.
Rugs woven in Joshaghan use a cotton foundation, asymmetric knotting, and a strong palette of deep red and indigo. They are woven with a medium pile and are prized both for their historical significance and for their handsome, enduring design.
