This antique Persian Sarouk rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its softly aged palette and finely drawn ornamental design. The stepped central medallion, floral border, and nuanced faded blue and ivory tones give it refined decorative presence, while its hand-knotted character and time-softened surface speak to authentic craftsmanship. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, blue, navy, beige, and camel, with a ivory field.
Sarouk is a village in western Iran north of Arak, famed for its 1920’s-1930’s floral rugs. They have both medallions and all over designs and are woven with asymmetric knotting on a cotton foundation. They often have a rich burgundy color as well as rose and rust grounds.
