This antique Hamadan runner, woven in Persia circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a finely drawn all-over geometric design framed by multiple borders. Its ivory field is softened by age and enlivened with taupe, camel, slate, and pale aqua motifs, giving the rug a refined tribal character and a beautifully timeworn decorative presence. A versatile hand-knotted antique runner well-suited for a hallway, entryway, or along the side of a bed.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, camel, slate, aqua, and brown, with a ivory field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
