This antique Farahan Sarouk rug, circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian piece distinguished by its dramatic lozenge medallion and densely drawn floral patterning. The richly detailed design pairs a deep rust field with an ivory-centered medallion, framed by an intricate border that showcases the refined balance and collector appeal associated with hand-knotted Persian rugs. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Muted warm tones of rust, ivory, burgundy, navy, rose, camel, and charcoal, with a rust field.
Far Sarouk rugs (sometimes listed as "Farahan Sarouk") represent the earliest phase of Sarouk production, woven in the villages of the Arak region in the late nineteenth and very early twentieth century before the style shifted toward the heavier American Sarouk format. These early pieces retain the refined drawing and restrained palette of the Farahan tradition — typically featuring an all-over floral spray design or a central medallion on a rich red or ivory ground.
They are more delicate and less commercial than later Sarouks, and are prized by collectors for their elegance and historical importance.
