Antique Lilian Runner Rug (2' x 9')
Dimensions: 2'8" x 9'2" (81 cm x 279 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Lilian runner, woven in Persia circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with an elegant floral all-over design set against a warm rose field. Its hand-knotted character is expressed through finely drawn vinery, palmettes, and a crisp ivory border framed by deep brown guard bands, giving the rug both softness and definition. A refined antique runner with strong decorative presence, it is especially well-suited for a hallway, entryway, or narrow bedroom space.
Faded warm tones of rose, ivory, brown, charcoal, sky blue, taupe, and camel, with a rose field.

Lilian (Lilihan) is a town south of Arak making rugs similar in style to a Sarouk with a curvilinear/floral style. They are single wefted and cotton foundation with a supple handle. Like Sarouks, Lilians were exported to the United States in the 1920’s and 1930’s. They are single wefted with a soft floppy handle.
