Dimensions: 5'5" x 9'4" (165 cm x 284 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This antique Sparta rug, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a beautifully time-softened palette and an understated all-over design. Its faded rose and ivory field reveals delicate traditional patterning with a gently distressed surface that gives the rug an elegant, collected character and versatile decorative appeal. A refined choice for a bedroom, living room, or office.
Faded warm tones of rose, ivory, blush, taupe, and dusty pink, with a ivory field.
Sparta rugs are woven in the town of Isparta in south west Turkey. They produce rugs that are curvilinear in design with scrolling arabesques, leaves and flowers, usually in a softer palette and more often with central medallions and open fields but also use all over patterns. They are woven on a cotton foundation with an all wool pile.
