Dimensions: 5'10" x 10'0" (178 cm x 305 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This antique Sparta rug, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its softly faded palette and understated all-over floral design. Its pale taupe and ivory field, framed by a subtle border and organized with quiet symmetry, gives the rug an elegant, timeworn character that works beautifully in both classic and pared-back interiors. An ideal choice for a hallway, bedroom, or living room.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, ivory, beige, stone, blush, and camel, with a ivory field.
Sparta rugs are woven in the town of Isparta in south west Turkey. They produce rugs that are curvilinear in design with scrolling arabesques, leaves and flowers, usually in a softer palette and more often with central medallions and open fields but also use all over patterns. They are woven on a cotton foundation with an all wool pile.
