Dimensions: 5'9" x 9'0" (175 cm x 274 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This antique Sparta rug, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a beautifully time-softened palette and an understated all-over design. Its low-contrast patterning and gently faded field give it a refined vintage presence, while the hand-knotted character and subtle decorative border lend depth without overwhelming a space. An ideal choice for a bedroom, living room, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, beige, stone, and pale gray, with a ivory field.
Sparta rugs are woven in the town of Isparta in south west Turkey. They produce rugs that are curvilinear in design with scrolling arabesques, leaves and flowers, usually in a softer palette and more often with central medallions and open fields but also use all over patterns. They are woven on a cotton foundation with an all wool pile.
