Dimensions: 4'8" x 15'0" (142 cm x 457 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This antique circa 1940 Kars runner is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind Turkish rug with a dramatic charcoal field and a rhythmic procession of rust panels bearing bold teal star medallions. Its graphic hooked motifs, ivory outlines, and narrow geometric borders showcase the strong tribal geometry associated with Kars weaving. An ideal statement runner for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Faded warm tones of charcoal, rust, teal, ivory, terracotta, coral, slate, and camel, with a charcoal field.
Kars is the provincial capital in the far northeastern part of Turkey formerly under Russian control. They have a strong Caucasian influence in design giving a primitive look. The use of natural dyes and undyed natural wool gives them a contemporary elegance suitable for both casual and country decors.
