This antique Karaje rug, circa 1920, is a hand-knotted Persian tribal weaving distinguished by its dramatic stepped medallion, angular ivory motifs, and softly weathered sky blue, terracotta, and rust palette. Its densely articulated geometric field and wide reciprocal border showcase the bold, graphic character prized in Karaje village rugs. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or office.
Faded warm tones of sky blue, terracotta, ivory, rust, dusty rose, sage, charcoal, and brown, with a sky blue field.
Karaje is a town in north west Iran in the Azerbaijan province close to Heriz. They are known for producing geometric rugs similar to Heriz on a cotton foundation and single wefted.
