This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian runner distinguished by its bold geometric medallion composition and beautifully time-softened palette. Hand-knotted with a character-rich tribal design, it features an ivory-centered field framed by vivid sky blue borders and accented with finely drawn motifs that showcase the enduring decorative appeal of village weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a hallway, entryway, or living room.
Faded cool tones of ivory, sky blue, pale blue, taupe, camel, and rust, with a ivory field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
