This antique Hamadan rug, hand-knotted in Persia circa 1930, is a one-of-a-kind handmade runner distinguished by its softly faded palette and striking tribal geometry. The pale blush field is framed by an icy blue border and animated with angular motifs, stylized architectural forms, and a stepped central medallion that showcase the character and artistry collectors prize in village weaving. Its gentle, timeworn coloration and elongated format make it an ideal accent for a hallway, bedroom, or entryway.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, pale blue, blush, taupe, camel, sage, and brown, with a blush field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
