This antique Karaje runner, woven in Northwest Persia circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with the bold geometric character collectors prize in village rugs. Its red field is animated by a sequence of angular medallions in sky blue, ivory, and green, framed by a crisp border that heightens the rug’s graphic tribal presence and finely detailed hand-knotted craftsmanship. A striking choice for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living room space.
Muted warm tones of rust, sky blue, ivory, teal, crimson, charcoal, and sage, with a rust field.
Karaje is a town in north west Iran in the Azerbaijan province close to Heriz. They are known for producing geometric rugs similar to Heriz on a cotton foundation and single wefted.
