This antique circa 1920 Lilian rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian carpet with an elegant all-over floral design and a beautifully aged palette. The soft rose field is framed by a deep indigo border and enriched with finely drawn botanical motifs that showcase the nuanced character and decorative refinement collectors prize in early 20th-century village weaving. Its balanced composition and gently faded surface make it an ideal foundation for a living room, dining room, or bedroom.

Lilian (Lilihan) is a town south of Arak making rugs similar in style to a Sarouk with a curvilinear/floral style. They are single wefted and cotton foundation with a supple handle. Like Sarouks, Lilians were exported to the United States in the 1920’s and 1930’s. They are single wefted with a soft floppy handle.
