Antique Malayer Area Rug (3' x 6')
Dimensions: 3'7" x 6'0" (109 cm x 183 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Malayer rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with an elongated field framed by angular corner spandrels and a finely repeated lattice pattern. Its softly faded ivory and blue palette gives the hand-knotted design an airy, timeworn elegance, while the narrow border and geometric detailing lend it strong collector appeal. An ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or beside a bed.
Faded cool tones of ivory, sky blue, slate blue, beige, and taupe, with a ivory field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
