Antique Malayer Runner Rug (3' x 9')
Dimensions: 3'1" x 9'10" (94 cm x 300 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Malayer runner, hand-knotted in Persia circa 1930, is a one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its elongated column of geometric medallions and crisp tribal border. The denim-blue field, softened ivory and taupe motifs, and beautifully faded palette give it the refined character collectors seek in early Persian village rugs. Its narrow 3' x 9' format makes it an ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Faded cool tones of blue, ivory, taupe, beige, and slate, with a blue field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
