This antique Shiraz rug, handmade in Southwest Persia circa 1920, is a one-of-a-kind tribal carpet with a richly patterned all-over field set against a dramatic dark ground. Its hand-knotted design features repeating floral and boteh-inspired motifs, framed by multiple geometric borders in saturated rust, ivory, and indigo accents that give the piece strong visual rhythm and collector appeal. A striking choice for a living room, dining room, or office.
Muted warm tones of burgundy, ebony, crimson, ivory, indigo, rust, and olive, with a ebony field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
