Dimensions: 3'3" x 4'8" (99 cm x 142 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a softly faded palette and striking geometric drawing. Its stepped lozenge medallion, angular tribal motifs, and finely articulated border create a refined yet rustic presence, while the low, time-softened wool pile enhances its collector appeal. An ideal accent for an entryway, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, ivory, light blue, brown, and beige, with a taupe field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
