Handmade and one-of-a-kind, this antique Caucasian runner, circa 1920, showcases a striking geometric lattice with stacked medallions in softly faded terracotta, ivory, and rose. Its hand-knotted character and tribal drawing give the long format exceptional movement, while the layered borders and delicate floral accents soften the bold Caucasian geometry. An ideal piece for a hallway, entryway, or office.
Faded warm tones of ivory, terracotta, rose, taupe, blush, camel, sienna, and lavender, with a ivory field.
Caucasian rugs have a stronger palette with geometric designs. Longer piled rugs are woven in the highlands and the shorter piled finer rugs in the lowlands. The Caucasus is the area bordered by the Black Sea on the left and the Caspian Sea to the right. The Caucasus mountains border the region from the northwest diagonally to the southwest. Rugs are usually woven on an all wool foundation or with wool warps and cotton wefts, occasionally mixed.
