Dimensions: 5'0" x 8'3" (152 cm x 251 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This handmade, one-of-a-kind Sparta rug from Greece, dating to circa 1940, presents a striking vintage interpretation of a classical floral carpet with an artfully time-softened surface. Its hand-knotted character is expressed through a moody blue-gray field, charcoal tonal contrasts, and a gently distressed all-over pattern that lends depth, texture, and understated decorative sophistication. An ideal choice for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded cool tones of slate, charcoal, steel_blue, blue_gray, and ebony, with a blue_gray field.

Sparta rugs are woven in the town of Isparta in south west Turkey. They produce rugs that are curvilinear in design with scrolling arabesques, leaves and flowers, usually in a softer palette and more often with central medallions and open fields but also use all over patterns. They are woven on a cotton foundation with an all wool pile.
