Antique Malayer Area Rug (4' x 6')
Dimensions: 4'1" x 6'3" (124 cm x 191 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Malayer rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving distinguished by its richly drawn all-over lattice design and luminous blue field. The finely detailed border work and softly aged palette of rust, ivory, and sky blue give it the character collectors prize in early 20th-century hand-knotted rugs, while its balanced geometry adds depth without overwhelming a space. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded cool tones of blue, rust, ivory, sky_blue, beige, and terra_cotta, with a blue field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
