Dimensions: 3'2" x 6'2" (97 cm x 188 cm).
This handmade one-of-a-kind vintage Gabbeh rug showcases a refined tribal design with a softly faded ivory field framed by warm beige geometric borders. A vertical chain of stepped lozenge motifs and crisp guard borders give the composition strong symmetry and understated decorative presence, making it especially appealing to collectors drawn to minimalist nomadic weaving. Its quiet palette and elongated 3' x 6' format make it an ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or bedroom.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, beige, taupe, and cream, with a ivory field.
Gabbe (also Gabbeh) rugs are woven by nomadic and semi-nomadic tribal women in the Zagros Mountains of southern Iran, primarily by the Qashqai and Luri tribes. The word "gabbeh" means "raw" or "unfinished" in Persian, reflecting the bold, improvisational aesthetic of these textiles — thick-piled, loosely knotted, and filled with naive figurative imagery: animals, people, trees, and abstract forms drawn directly from the weaver's imagination and daily life.
Their thick, soft pile, earthy natural dyes, and utterly original imagery have made Gabbeh rugs enormously popular since they were "discovered" by the Western market in the 1980s. They bring immediate warmth and personality to any interior.
