Nain (also Naiin) is a city in Isfahan province, central Iran, that emerged as a major fine-rug weaving center only in the twentieth century — primarily after World War II — producing some of the finest and most technically accomplished rugs of the modern era. Nain weavers are celebrated for their extraordinarily high knotting density, their use of Kork wool or silk pile, and their elegant curvilinear designs drawn from the classical Persian repertoire.
