Yazd is an ancient city in central Iran, situated in the heart of the Persian desert, with a weaving tradition stretching back many centuries. Yazd rugs are closely related to Kerman carpets in their construction and design vocabulary — double-wefted cotton foundations, asymmetric knotting, elaborate curvilinear floral compositions — but tend toward a somewhat bolder palette and a slightly heavier hand in their drawing.
