The design pairs a gray field with vivid rose and magenta geometric-floral motifs, framed by a decorative border that reflects the refined weaving traditions of East Turkestan. Its balanced symmetry and faded patina give it exceptional decorative versatility as a collector-worthy accent for a hallway, bedroom, or living room.

Khotan rugs are from the Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang, Chinese Turkestan. These unique rugs made in the towns Khotan, Kashgar, and Yarkand are often referred to as Samarkand after the main trading town in the region. They have a combination of designs and being on the silk route have influences from their Chinese, Turkoman, and Turkish neighbors. Fretwork, cloud borders, trellis patterns, pomegranates and carnations all are incorporated into their designs. They are of long and relatively narrow size with simplistic and spacious designs.
