This antique Afshar rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind tribal weaving with a beautifully time-softened palette and a striking all-over lattice of geometric medallion forms. Its faded blue field, nuanced with ivory, taupe, and warm rust accents, gives the piece a refined, atmospheric character while the hand-knotted patterning and aged surface lend depth and collector appeal. Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran.
