Antique Malayer Runner Rug (4' x 10')
Dimensions: 4'4" x 10'5" (132 cm x 318 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Malayer rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian runner with a finely drawn all-over lattice of geometric floral motifs and a beautifully time-softened palette. The pale blue field is enlivened by rust, ivory, and warm earth tones, while the hand-knotted patterning and narrow border give it the refined character collectors seek in early village weavings. An ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or office.
Faded warm tones of rust, sky blue, ivory, camel, taupe, and terracotta, with a blue field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
