Dimensions: 4'10" x 8'10" (147 cm x 269 cm).
This vintage Karabagh rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Caucasian piece distinguished by its striking all-over lattice of stylized floral and botanical motifs. The dark field is enlivened with rose, ivory, rust, and turquoise accents, while the geometric border adds crisp structure and a collector-friendly contrast to the expressive drawing and age-softened palette. A distinctive decorative accent for a hallway, living room, or office.
Faded warm tones of charcoal, rust, ivory, turquoise, rose, taupe, and navy, with a charcoal field.
Karabagh rugs are made in the south eastern Caucasus close to the Kazak district bordering North Eastern Iran. They have varied designs. Some derive from the classical 18th Century carpets, such as the large medallion format, and some are more formal French influence, related to the Aubusson and Savonnerie styles with their more realistic drawing. They are more often woven on a woolen foundation.
