Dimensions: 2'10" x 11'9" (86 cm x 358 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Malayer runner, woven in Persia circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a striking tribal geometric composition and beautifully time-softened palette. The elongated rust field is animated by a vertical sequence of diamond medallions in pale blue and ivory, framed by multiple narrow borders that showcase the refined artistry collectors prize in early Persian village rugs. Its faded character and elegant proportions make it an ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Faded warm tones of rust, ivory, sky_blue, beige, camel, and taupe, with a rust field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
