Circa: 1920.
This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a softly timeworn palette and a distinctive stepped medallion composition. Its faded ivory and sand field is enlivened by pale terracotta floral patterning and framed by striking sky blue geometric borders, giving the piece an airy yet character-rich presence that suits both traditional and collected interiors. A beautiful accent for an entryway, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of ivory, sky blue, sand, terra cotta, beige, and camel, with a ivory field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
