Dimensions: 5'2" x 9'2" (157 cm x 279 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique 1930s Malayer rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian piece distinguished by its softly faded palette and finely drawn geometric tribal design. The open camel-tan field is layered with angular medallion forms, stylized motifs, and a crisp border rendered in pale blue, giving the rug a refined yet timeworn character that collectors value in antique village weavings. Its understated coloration and elongated 5' x 9' format make it an ideal choice for a living room, bedroom, or hallway.
Faded warm tones of camel, tan, beige, pale blue, ivory, and taupe, with a camel field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
