This vintage Khotan rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind textile distinguished by its refined East Turkestan design vocabulary and balanced, collector-friendly composition. The field pairs a warm camel ground with two ivory roundels, stylized pomegranate and vine motifs, and crisp indigo accents, all framed by multiple geometric borders that enhance its elegant, architectural presence. Its restrained palette and intricate hand-knotted patterning make it an ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.

Khotan rugs are from the Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang, Chinese Turkestan. These unique rugs made in the towns Khotan, Kashgar, and Yarkand are often referred to as Samarkand after the main trading town in the region. They have a combination of designs and being on the silk route have influences from their Chinese, Turkoman, and Turkish neighbors. Fretwork, cloud borders, trellis patterns, pomegranates and carnations all are incorporated into their designs. They are of long and relatively narrow size with simplistic and spacious designs.
