Dimensions: 3'9" x 15'9" (114 cm x 480 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This antique circa 1940 Sparta runner is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with an elegant all-over floral design rooted in Greek weaving tradition. Its softly faded palette of blush, ivory, and muted taupe gives the long format a refined, airy presence, while the intricate border and finely drawn motifs showcase the character collectors seek in vintage hand-knotted rugs. An ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living space.
Faded warm tones of ivory, blush, rose, taupe, sage, and camel, with a ivory field.
Sparta rugs are woven in the town of Isparta in south west Turkey. They produce rugs that are curvilinear in design with scrolling arabesques, leaves and flowers, usually in a softer palette and more often with central medallions and open fields but also use all over patterns. They are woven on a cotton foundation with an all wool pile.
