Circa: 1930.
This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a striking all-over lattice of hooked diamond medallions and angular tribal motifs. Its softly faded taupe-brown field is enlivened by pale blue and blush accents, framed by a geometric border that underscores the rug’s hand-knotted character and collectible early 20th-century appeal. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of taupe, dusty rose, pale blue, brown, ivory, and charcoal, with a taupe field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
