This antique Persian Bakhtiari rug, circa 1920, is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind carpet distinguished by an intricate all-over lattice of palmettes, floral rosettes, and scrolling vinework. Its charcoal field is richly articulated with muted terracotta, ivory, teal, and gold, framed by multiple finely detailed floral borders that reward close study. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or library.
Muted warm tones of charcoal, terracotta, ivory, teal, sage, gold, coral, and ebony, with a charcoal field.
The Baktiary is a tribe located in western Iran. They produce colorful geometric rugs often with a compartment design filled with stylized floral motifs or bold medallions. The village rugs are woven on a cotton foundation with the nomadic pieces on a woolen foundation.
