This vintage Shiraz rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind tribal runner distinguished by its elongated column of stepped diamond medallions and richly geometric border work. Its softly faded palette of rust, ivory, and pale blue gives the hand-knotted design an airy, timeworn elegance while preserving the bold graphic character associated with South Persian weaving. A versatile statement piece for a hallway, entryway, or bedroom.
Faded warm tones of rust, ivory, pale blue, terra cotta, camel, taupe, and brown, with a ivory field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
