This antique Sarouk rug, hand-knotted in Persia circa 1930, is a handmade one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its finely drawn all-over boteh design and richly detailed border. The warm rust field, softened by age, is enlivened with ivory, gold, and deep blue accents that showcase the rug’s intricate craftsmanship and classic Persian decorative balance. Its refined traditional character and compact 4' x 6' format make it an ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of rust, brick, gold, ivory, navy, camel, and brown, with a rust field.
Sarouk is a village in western Iran north of Arak, famed for its 1920’s-1930’s floral rugs. They have both medallions and all over designs and are woven with asymmetric knotting on a cotton foundation. They often have a rich burgundy color as well as rose and rust grounds.
