This antique Farahan Sarouk rug, circa 1900, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian carpet distinguished by its richly drawn Heriz-inspired medallion-and-corner composition and finely articulated floral vinery. The warm rust field is enlivened by ivory, navy, and soft blue accents, while the hand-knotted patterning and layered border system give the piece strong decorative presence and collector appeal. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, office, or bedroom.
Muted warm tones of rust, ivory, navy, soft blue, taupe, camel, rose, and charcoal, with a rust field.
Far Sarouk rugs (sometimes listed as "Farahan Sarouk") represent the earliest phase of Sarouk production, woven in the villages of the Arak region in the late nineteenth and very early twentieth century before the style shifted toward the heavier American Sarouk format. These early pieces retain the refined drawing and restrained palette of the Farahan tradition — typically featuring an all-over floral spray design or a central medallion on a rich red or ivory ground.
They are more delicate and less commercial than later Sarouks, and are prized by collectors for their elegance and historical importance.
