This handmade one-of-a-kind vintage Malayer runner showcases the refined village weaving traditions of western Persia in a long, elegant format. Its richly patterned field features repeating geometric floral motifs framed by an ivory border, with saturated rust, camel, and deep blue accents that give the piece strong visual rhythm and collector-friendly character. A distinctive hand-knotted accent for layering warmth and pattern into a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Muted warm tones of rust, camel, ivory, navy, crimson, brown, and slate, with a camel field.
Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
